Here is what I have been watching on tv this year:

A Million Little Things

Anne With An E (Netflix)

Any recommendations for us? Oh, and need to start riding the stationary bike again and doing Yoga with Adriene!

Monsters or Mothers in law (yes, really, read on...)

Why?  Why do I have to have one?  The moment we got engaged, I could feel the air change in the room.  I was no longer the girlfriend, I was now the other woman.  The o-womyn who would never be good enough for precious him.  It was fine as just the gfriend.  She was nice, she was friendly, all was fab.  Then we got engaged.

The questions and comments were unreal: 'Do you cook every night?', 'That was a long drive-did you share the task?'  Her sister even asked me point blank: 'How old are you?'  wtf.

The assumption, hard and fast, that I would be changing my last name: 'Your new initials will be AMC.  How nice.'

ugh.

I have a friend who is a mom in law and she sends her daughter in law for pedicures at the spa and then watches the kids while the d-in-law is being pampered.  I mean, come on.
(why not me?)

Why can some of them (m-in-law) function with the new gal in town just fine while others are basket cases of crazy.  Are they unnerved? Confused?  No social skills finally being revealed?  Cause, really, a d-in-law doesn't become any more real then when she shows up at your front door with your baby boy.  Cue shit hitting fan.

Moon burn

Well, here it is, 5am.  Am I surprised that I am awake a full 2 hours ahead of when I need to be?
Nope.

It's a full moon in Scorpio tonight and she has been taunting me for the past few evening/early am's.

I was walking with some friends the other night and we started talking about the moons and how powerful she is.  I suggested that we all get 'moonburnt' during these few days after a friend who is a nurse said that the er is nuts once a month.

Daycares, elementary schools: also nuts.  Teachers, bouncers, among others, will tell you the same.

Then there is the whole chick thing...really, is any further comment required.

Do we and will we ever really comprehend the full meaning and workings of the moon?

She is:

4.5 billion years old

Egg shaped

Orbits around the Earth

1/4 of the Earth's diameter (3476 km)

The Moon has almost no atmosphere, because of its weak gravity. All types of gas will escape from its surface.
Without an atmosphere, there is no wind or water erosion. The Moon's surface is about the same now as it was 3 billion years ago. The astronauts' footprints remain unchanged on the Moon's surface. The footprints should last at least 10 million years.

The moon causes many of the tides in the Earth's oceans. This is because of the gravity force between the Earth and Moon. At full Moon and new Moon, the Sun, Earth and Moon are lined up, producing the higher than normal tides (called spring tides, for the way they spring up). When the Moon is at first or last quarter, smaller neap tides form.

The same side of the Moon always faces the Earth. The Moon's rotation period is synchronous with its revolution period around the Earth.

The Moon has no global magnetic field. You cannot use a compass to find your direction.

An eclipse of the Sun can occur only at New Moon, while an eclipse of the Moon can occur only at Full Moon.

Thanks, moonphases.info for the facts!!  And lastly, the best fact of all:

The moon is not made of cheese!!

Birth and Death...and Birth...

Which comes first?
Or do they constantly alternate?
I am not ready.  For either anymore.
The skeleton scares me but that is what I am.

Did you grow up wanting to sit at a desk all day?

My husband left for work this morning with a tape measure hooked onto his belt.  He doesn't usually wear these things on weekdays (or maybe he does and I have never noticed being busy trying to get to work on time), just on weekends.  I immediately thought:

Why do men grow up & get a chance at their dream job, the job they pretended to do when they were little kids (fireman, sniper, police officer, professional athlete, etc...) but women don't?  We don't get to grow up and be princesses or queens or actresses (not too many, anyway).  Or Snow White.  I once saw a TLC wedding story & the chick was Snow White at Disney.

How fun would that be!

So my lingering question is this:

Why do some people get to grow up & be the personas that they spend their youth idolizing and pretending-fighter pilots, firemen and women, police officers and the rest of us dreamers get to grow up and NOT be Snow White, Cinderella, any random princess or queen....?

Tears

They come quickly usually but, rarely and more frequently, not at all

Coming into contact with stories of love, loss, joy, despair, sacrifice and hope

Touching my heart now almost as much as they did originally.

The Spa

Transported back in time...
Azul & white tile echo
Water and waves.
My shoulders drop.
I am home.
